Vanishing of borders

According to Marc Jacobs’s statement that trends are gone I want to present an article about degradation of strict principles in fashion named trends.

Nowadays, power of ‚trend‚ is weakening . Redefinition of this term is needed. Trend is no longer a principle, rule, how to look good in each season. ‚Trend‚ evolved only into suggestion or insipration for a people (fashionistas) and their way of clothing .

It doesn’t mean that fashion sank into stagnation! Inversely, we can say that fashion developed enough to this change and begins a new era…

In the world, where many cultures, styles of clothing, lifestyles and visions are blending, we obtain vibrant variety that compiles to distinguish distinct trends in fashion. What is more, increasingly we cannot even sturdily assess, if a look of a person is strictly passe or not.

Does it mean that fashion loses its importance?

Deffenetly not. Fashion promoted to be a new muse of art. Designers create their lines as masterpieces, not only in haute couture, but even in  pret-a-porter collections. Artist shouldn’t be limited by anything to create spectacular collection. Lack of strict trends set designer’s mind to  free and allows them to show whole artist’ vision as one composition.

In my opinion it is great change in fashion industry, because now everyone is free to express theirself by personal way of clothing without any complex and threat of being excluded. Being different is in. Being flamboyant and innovatory (but not overdressed!) is even required from modern fashionistas.

So do we need trends?

Actually no.  Each couture house has its own style and this provides variety of global styles . Each season supplies fashion with plenty of collections, of different brands. Each collection embodies brand’s inspirations and visions for a paricular season. That brand collections can vary a lot by color, texture, material ect. Sometimes it happens that few couture houses show totally different tendentions for a season. What is more, such diversity of styles and number of couture houses leaves people a bit confused, so trends are not so eagerly innovated these days. No one want to be under strong control what should they wear. They stay with the principle ‚a little something for everyone’.
